FAQ

  • HOW IS THE PRESERVE ADDRESSING DRAINAGE?

We are planning substantial areas of open space that can be used to address drainage while providing amenities for the trails and park uses when it is dry. As part of the design process, we are studying the drainage area from initial development of the neighborhoods through the current day. By converting the existing golf course and lined storage ponds to more natural playa basins and “draw” channels, the development will address flooding concerns while increasing stormwater cleansing and infiltration. Native grasses, vegetation, and flowering species will also provide critical habitat for birds, pollinators, and wildlife.

  • WHY CAN’T THE PROPERTY REMAIN A GOLF COURSE?

The previous owner of the golf course did not want to continue operating the course and decided to sell the property. With no interested buyers or operators for a golf course, and the potential of the property to fall into neglect and disrepair, a group of local Midlanders has re-imagined it as a neighborhood restaurant, retail, and office destination.

  • ARE THERE ANY PLANS FOR OIL/GAS DRILLING ON THE PROPERTY?

There is no planned oil or gas drilling or any related activity on the property as part of this development; due diligence revealed that all minerals under the land are subject to a blanket surface waiver.

  • HOW IS THE PRESERVE PRIORITIZING SAFETY?

Safety remains a top priority for us. There will be ample lighting located throughout The Preserve site. We will be working with the Midland Police and Fire Departments to ensure that all safety and emergency precautions are taken.

  • WHO ARE THE DEVELOPERS OF THE PRESERVE?

The development team behind The Preserve at Midland are local residents Adam Cunyus, Ian Denholm, and Reid Redman. The three partners have successfully developed several properties in the Midland area. After listening to the issues and concerns raised by the community following the previous applicant’s plan for the property, the three jumped at the opportunity to bring a fresh, unique, and family-friendly development that will serve all of Midland and the surrounding areas.
